![]() ![]() I'll try a Combo updater on 10.11.2 when it arrives, but until then, does anyone have any obvious suggestions or bits of wisdom to share?ġ. Has anyone else had a similar experience with the 10.11.1 update creating serious issues? I'm now stuck on 10.11.0 (since I can't risk another upgrade to 10.11.1 on a machine I use heavily every day for work). At that point I was prepared for a complete rebuild, but after simply installing 10.11 once again, the system resumed normal operation. I was worried that it wouldn't install an older version over a newer one, but it allowed me to do so. The log files (accessed when booted from an external drive) showed a constantly repeating error (which I've now lost, having reverted to 10.11.0).Įventually, the only thing that solved the problem was for me to boot from an external clone of my 10.11.0 system (which was a couple of weeks old), and run the full 10.11 Installer to install 10.11 on to my internal SSD. The system boots to the login screen, and then immediately after login simply goes to an infinitely spinning disc. The result was a completely unusable machine. I use Office 2011 (Excel, mostly) without any problems.īut recently, I tried to upgrade to 10.11.1, using the App Store standard process. Mail is working fine and a number of problems in Yosemite have been resolved. Other than that, there are no system modifications in place.ġ0.11 has been just fine. The new wireless card is still installed (and seems to be working just fine), and I have enabled TRIM on my Samsung 840 EVO SSD. However, with the fresh installation of El Cap, I have NOT re-applied those patches. This worked just fine, but, of course, runs on patched kernel libraries - so a bit of a non-standard system. This is a completely fresh machine, and I've had few to no issues since doing that.ĭisclaimer: Under Yosemite, I replaced the wireless card with a BT4 enabled card so I could try the Continuity Activation capability. So I did a completely fresh installation of El Capitan, and manually migrated all my data across (and reinstalled applications). ![]() In an early upgrade to El Capitan, I found many problems. Wonderful machine (except for the graphics issue that has resulted in a couple of mother board replacements), except that I now seem to have a serious problem upgrading to 10.11.1. ![]()
